108 bead malas and wrist malas, wood malas and crystal malas in Sandalwood, Tulsi, Clear Crystal, Amethyst, Garnet and Rosewood
Sacred Prayer Beads
Malas are devotional and meditative bead necklaces used to count mantras or prayers. These malas are handmade in the holy land of Braj and Rajasthan in northern India by artisans who have practiced their craft for generations. These sacred beads bring with them the wisdom of hundreds of years of spiritual teaching and practice.
Traditionally malas are made of 108 beads. Like a rosary, these malas can be worn around the neck. The number 108 is sacred in Hindu religious tradition. This number comes from multiplying the 12 astrological houses by the 9 planets. The malas also have a guru bead, a reminder of the teachers in our lives. We also carry malas that have 27 beads that can be worn around the wrist. Wood malas have 6-8 mm beads. The 108 bead malas are all knotted in between beads. Crystal malas have 5-6mm beads and are double knotted on silk.
